Answer: | The irritation of skin around the anal area leads to the sensation of itching. This condition is termed as Pruritus ani. It is obviously very troublesome and intolerable. Itching and scratching of that area may lead to the burning and soreness.
One of the main causes of anal itching is excessive cleaning, rubbing and wiping of the anal area. Certain chemicals present in the food may cause anal itching like tea, coffee, hot spices, carbonated beverages, tomato and tomato products. Excessive sweating around anal area, diarrhea, and stool deposits (residual) may also be the culprit for anal itching. Sometimes, some infection like Candidiasis (Popularly known as yeast infection) may lead to the anal itching, which need to be treated well. Some other health problems like Psoriasis, anal fissures may also cause irritation of anal skin.
To avoid anal itching, you should keep your anus clean and dry. Use gentle soap and never apply a lot of soap in that area or never leave the soap in that area. Your clothing and continuous sitting may put moisture and pressure on that area aggravating the problem. So, wear comfortable cloths to avoid the itching sensation. Clean the anal area with moist and soft wash cloth without rubbing or scratching.
You can use various products available in the market for the treatment of anal itching like Creams, Ointments or gels. |
