Question:I suffer from dandruff can you help?
Answer:The first thing to check is whether any hair products - shampoo, mousse, gel - are irritating your scalp. Many contain alcohol and harsh chemicals that can dry out your skin, making it itchy and flaky. So switch to a different type to see if that makes any difference, especially if you' ve recently changed brands. Some people find that rubbing pure aloe vera gel into their scalp when their hair is still wet after shampooing helps.

Otherwise, there' s the inside-out approach. Omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids are key when it comes to skin, as they form part of each skin cell and help keep it from drying out and flaking. Oily fish, nuts and seeds such as pumpkin and sunflower are particularly rich in these important nutrients. Try to eat wild or organically farmed salmon, herring, sardines or mackerel three times a week, grind up a tablespoon of seeds to sprinkle over your cereal in the morning, and snack on a handful of nuts for your elevenses. Or you can supplement with fish oil capsules (1g a day) or a tablespoon of flax seed oil each day. You may also be low in vitamin A, which is important for skin health. So eat eggs, yellow and orange fruits (mangoes, apricots) and vegetables (peppers, sweet potatoes) and take a multivitamin that contains at least 2,500mcg of A (and no more than 3,000mcg if you' re pregnant). Many people find MSM, a type of sulphur, helps all sorts of skin problems. Take 3g a day. MSM also comes in a topical cream form.
