Question: | My hair is always dry. Can this be linked to my diet? |
Answer: | Your body is smart - it prioritizes the distribution of essential nutrients to the vital organs, leaving the parts of the body that are least important for survival until last. Your hair may be vital to your appearance, but it actually comes way down on your body' s list, so if your hair is dull and lifeless this usually means you' re taking in so few nutrients there' s little left over for it. A lack of essential fats - important oils found in oily fish and seeds (such as pumpkin and sunflower) - is the most common cause of dry hair. So have oily 6sh such as sardines or trout three times a week and a handful of seeds each day as snacks, on salads or cereal. To ensure you' re getting enough, supplement an omega-3-rich-fish oil. Cod liver oil is a very good source. To safeguard against any other nutrient shortfalls, supplement a good diet with a high strength multivitamin and mineral too. |
