Answer: | The first thing I' d recommend for excessive sweating is to balance your blood sugar levels. If they are going up and down you' re also likely to have see-sawing energy, mood and concentration levels; and irritation and anxiety can cause you to perspire more than is normal.
To even out your blood sugar, eat regularly, have some protein (fish, yoghurt, lean meat or soya) and fibre (vegetables, fruit or wholegrains) at each meal, cut out sugar, processed foods, coffee, tea and alcohol, and take 200mcg of the mineral chromium each day. Excessive sweating can also be caused by stress, which can in turn play havoc with your blood sugar levels, so take control of that by meditating, doing yoga, walking or just chilling out regularly to soothing music.
Many people find that they perspire less if they have a good intake of the omega-3 and 6 essential fatty acids (EFAs), which act as a kind of two-way waterproofing in the skin. EFA-rich foods include oily fish, nuts and seeds. Eat these as well as taking a good fish oil supplement (1g), or flax seed oil (a tablespoon a day) if you are vegetarian. |
