Question:I am curious about liposuction. Does it leave noticeable scars? After fat is removed from your thighs, does the skin sag down around your knees? Any information would be appreciated.
Answer:In liposuction, the plastic surgeon will inject the fatty area with a substance to partly dissolve the fat and reduce bleeding, and then through a several one-centimetre long cuts, will insert a sucker to remove some (but not all) of the excess fat. The only scars will be those at the point where the sucker was introduced, but there may be uneven dimpling and tethering of the skin if too much fat is removed from one area. The skin is elastic, and will shrink down to fit tightly over the tissue, but again this is provided not too much fat is removed. The older you are, the less elastic the skin, and some older people may have some skin sagging that can be corrected by further surgery. Liposuction will not change your shape dramatically, but may reduce your thigh circumference by two to four centimetres at most.
