Question: | I am always reading that you shouldn' t eat one food or another, and should eat more of this and less of that if you want to keep to your ideal weight and stay healthy. Lots of these experts seem to contradict each other. What do you think are the best foods to eat? Are vitamins needed? |
Answer: | Put as simply as possible, human beings should eat mostly bread, cereals, vegetables and fruit; eat moderately milk, cheese, yogurt, lean meat, poultry, fish, eggs and legumes; and eat least salt, sugar, butter, margarine, oil and cream.
Food should be taken in three equal-sized meals a day, with occasional snacks between meals if not overweight. Weight should be maintained within the recommended limits for your height and build and toilet habits should be regular. Exercise is also important in maintaining a trim, taut, terrific body.
On a good diet, vitamin and fibre supplements are rarely necessary. Chomp an apple instead!
