Question: | I am concerned about my five year old daughter' s hearing. Could it just be disobedience, or is a hearing problem likely? |
Answer: | Any parent who is concerned about their child' s hearing MUST arrange for a hearing test to be performed. There is no other reliable way of determining whether the child is suffering from a defect that may cause long-term problems, or is being wilfully disobedient. The first step is to see your general practitioner who will exclude any causes such as wax or ear infection. The GP can then perform hearing tests or refer you to a specialist or audiology clinic. It is far better to be safe than sorry with this condition. |
