Question: | I keep getting giddy ail the time for no good reason. Why would this happen? |
Answer: | There are dozens of reasons for becoming dizzy and giddy. These sensations are controlled by semicircular canals in the inner part of the ear, so any ear disease may cause dizziness.
Common causes include colds and other virus infections that block up the ear canal with excess phlegm, ear infections, wax in the ears and sudden changes in position in older people who may have low blood pressure. Some less common reasons are Meniere' s disease (an alteration of the blood supply to the inner ear), epilepsy, anaemia, heart disease, migraine, psychiatric disorders, thyroid disease, pregnancy, diabetes and some drugs. Because of this enormous diversity of causes, correct diagnosis is important before treatment starts.
