| Question: | I am sure that my son has a squint, but my GP keeps saying he hasn' t. What should I do? |
| Answer: | The diagnosis of squint is not as easy as one might expect. A number of normal conditions may mimic a squint, or the eye problem may not be constant and occur only when the child is very tired.
A child who has a very broad nasal bridge, may also give the false impression that the eyes are not parallel.
If you are still concerned, take him to the doctor at a time when you feel the squint is at its worst. If your GP cannot adequately explain the problem, ask for a referral to an eye specialist.
