Question:What causes excessive hair growth in the ears, nose and on the back in men? I have this problem, but I am going bald on top.
Answer:Nature is complex, but fair. Very frequently, bald men have hairy chests, backs, legs, arms etc. This is because of many factors, but primarily your choice of parents. The genes for baldness and excess body hair passes through the generations, so you should look to your father and grandfathers to see what hair distribution is likely in your future. The growth of ear and nose hair is also controlled by your genes. There is no practical treatment for large hairy areas, but excess nose and ear hair can be permanently removed by plastic surgeons who will destroy the hair follicle under a local anaesthetic so that no furthet hairs can grow.
