Question: | I have had hair removed from my chin by electrolysis, but it has returned. What does this mean? |
Answer: | Electrolysis is the passage of an electric current from the tip of a needle and into the surrounding skin in a way that destroys a hair follicle. If the hair follicle is desrroyed, it can no longer grow a hair.
If your chin hair has regrown after this procedure it means that the electrolysis merely destroyed the hair and damaged the hair follicle, but did not destroy the follicle. The damaged follicle can repair itself, and start producing a hair again.
Your options are to have the electrolysis procedure repeated, or to take medication such as Aldactone (available on prescription from your GP) on a regular basis to prevent hair growth.
