Question: | I have a headache that won' t go away for days at a time, then it comes back again after only a couple of days. What can I do? |
Answer: | The fitst thing you must do is determine the type of headache you have and its cause. A chronic (long-standing) headache may be due to a sinus infection, muscle spasm secondary to stress, eye strain, dental decay, medications that you may be taking for other diseases, ear diseases and several dozen other more obscure conditions. Many of these conditions can be cured or prevented.
A chronic sinus infection, for example, can be cleared up with a course of antibiotics and/or a sinus washout. Migraines may be prevented by using special medication on a regular basis for month after month. Even stress can be relieved by rationalising the problems you face with help from your general practitioner or a psychiatrist.
Please see your doctor and obtain the correct diagnosis and treatment.
