Question:I have pain and tenderness in my left testicle that causes nausea when the testicle is bumped. The left testicle also hangs higher in the scrotum than the right. Should I be concerned?
Answer:As all members of the male gender know, and cricket players in particular, testicles are very sensitive structures that cause their owner considerable distress (including pain and nausea) if they are knocked or squeezed in any way. If one testicle is more sensitive or tender than the other, medical attention is necessary as the affected testicle may be infected, inflamed or (worst of all) starting to twist. A twisted (or torted) testicle is a very serious condition, as it can result in the blood supply to the testicle being cut off, and the organ dying. An infected testicle is uncommon, but can result in sterility if left untreated. On the other hand, it is completely normal for one testicle to hang slightly lower than the other.
