Question: | I have a number of small hard white lumps on my scrotum. I am concerned about these and would appreciate your advice. |
Answer: | Sebaceous glands produce the oil that keeps the skin soft and supple. Because the skin of the scrotum is very loose, these glands tend to become prominent as small lumps. Elsewhere in the body the skin is firmer and elastic, and these glands are buried. Almost certainly your small lumps are sebaceous glands that have become blocked or damaged in some way so that they harden. This is a very common phenomenon that becomes more noticeable with age. Most men have these lumps and they are nothing to be concerned about unless they become infected, in which case they will be red, tender and painful. |
