Question: | ! am 68 years young, very healthy, cut wood, mow the lawn, and walk for miles but I have an erection problem. I can get an erection, but I can' t sustain it. As soon as I try to have sex, it droops. I believe an implant in the penis that I read about in an American magazine will solve the problem. Are they available here? My wife is 20 years younger than I am, and I don' t want to lose her. |
Answer: | The implants to make a penis erect are available in Australia, and have been implanted by plastic surgeons into appropriate patients for many years. You are not an appropriate patient.
These devices are used only in men who cannot obtain any form of erection. A squeeze bulb is placed in the scrotum (so that you have three balls instead of two), and two long balloons are placed on either side of the penis. The bulb is squeezed to pump up the penis, and a valve at the base of the penis is pressed to deflate it.
In your case, a very simple device can be used. When the penis is erect, place a piece of rubber around the base of the penis and clamp the rubber so that it acts as a tourniquet, to prevent the blood that keeps the penis erect from escaping. This should not be applied too frequently, or for more than fifteen minutes, or the penis may be damaged.
Injections are also available to give you an erection. These can be prescribed by your general practitioner after appropriate investigations to exclude any disease that may be causing impotence. Viagra tablets for impotence can also be used.
