Question: | Why are school sores different from other sores? |
Answer: | School sores (also known as impetigo) are bacterial infections of the skin. They get their name because they are easily spread from one child to anothet in the school environment. They are not necessarily a sign of poor hygiene. They respond quickly to the cottect tteatment of antibiotic ointment and/ot antibiotic tablets.
Other members of the family should protect themselves from infection by avoiding close contact, not sharing towels etc. and using antiseptic soap.
