Causes of Astrocytoma Unknown. |
Symptoms of Astrocytoma Often very mild and confusing in the early stages, and as a result it may be quite large before it is detected. Common symptoms include visual disturbances, abnormal gland function, paralysis of facial muscles, in coordination and difficulty in walking. |
Tests for Astrocytoma Visualized by CT and MRI scans. Biopsy required for final diagnosis. |
Treatment for Astrocytoma Surgery to remove growth, and the parts that cannot be removed are treated by drugs. Because of their size when diagnosed, they sometimes cannot be completely removed.

Complications of Astrocytoma of its treatment Rarely may become aggressively malignant and progress rapidly. |
Likely Outcome of Astrocytoma Often cured if complete surgical excision possible. The outcome is often better in children. |
