Causes of Bow Legs A developmental and growth problem. In rare cases due to rickets, poorly healed fractures of the leg bones or other very uncommon diseases. |

Tests for Bow Legs Sometimes an X-ray of the knees may be taken. |
Treatment for Bow Legs In virtually all cases the problem corrects itself without any treatment. In rare cases a wedge may be inserted into the outside edge of the shoes to turn the foot slightly inwards. Very rarely, if the problem continues into the early teenage years and causes difficulty in walking or abnormal appearance and posture, an operation may be necessary.
