Causes of Plantar Wart
A very slow developing virus that attacks softened skin.
Symptoms of Plantar Wart
A hard, slightly raised, scar like growth on the sole of the foot that becomes painful with walking. Verrucae are like icebergs, with only a small part showing on the surface and a much larger area affected deeper in the sole.
Tests for Plantar Wart
None necessary.
Treatment for Plantar Wart
Diathermy (burning), acid ointments, freezing, cutting out, or injecting under the wart. After surgery, a far larger hole than expected is usually left in the sole that may take some weeks to heal.
Complications of Plantar Wart of its treatment
May become so large, widespread and painful that walking is very difficult.
Likely Outcome of Plantar Wart
Recurrences common despite the best treatment.
