A skin condition that affects the sides of the palms of the hands and soles of the feet, and is more common in young adults. |
Causes of Pompholyx May be triggered by excess sweating, emotional stress, fungal infections of the skin, and touching irritating substances or plants. |
Symptoms of Pompholyx Small blisters that are deep in the skin and moderately itchy form at the edges of the palms and soles. With irritation, the blisters burst, the skin peels and leaves small brown scale-covered ulcers. |
Tests for Pompholyx None normally necessary. |
Treatment for Pompholyx Avoiding all soaps, irritants, detergents and chemicals only treatment necessary for mild cases. Steroid or coal tar creams used for moderate attacks, while severe attacks may require steroid tablets.
